Blepharoplasty is a cosmetic surgery to correct sagging eyelids by removing excess skin, fat, and muscle tissue. The aging process causes the eyelids to droop, and the muscles related to them weaken. This not only makes the individual appear older but may also cause issues with peripheral vision.
Method: For lower eyelid blepharoplasty, the surgeon makes an incision just below the eyelashes or inside the lower eyelid. The surgeon removes or redistributes excess fat, muscle, and sagging skin, and then closes the incision. For upper eyelids, the incision is made along the natural eyelid fold, and excess skin, muscle, and fat are removed or redistributed before stitching up the incision.
