In gastric bypass surgery, the surgeon makes changes to the structure of your digestive system. Modifying the digestive tract and reducing the size of the stomach leads to a decrease in the amount of food the body can intake. Additionally, by shortening the small intestine, nutrient absorption is reduced, resulting in weight loss.
